As a senior photographer serving clients in the Denver Metro Area, I often get asked the question, “Which season should I book my senior pictures?” and my answer is usually, “It depends!” There’s a lot to consider when thinking about what season your photo shoot should occur in but in this blog post, I want to talk about the benefits of having your senior photos done in the Fall.

1. Weather:

it’s not too hot and not too cold.   In early fall you’ll see low 80 degree temps and in late fall they can get pretty chilly but the chances of snow are not too high. You won’t have to worry about sweating from heat or a red nose from the cold… it’s usually just right.

2. Fashion:

If boots, scarves, flannels, and jackets are your thing, a fall senior session is your perfect option. Layers make an outfit super dynamic and the season for a perfectly layered wardrobe is definitely the fall. Remember that if you shoot in early fall, you can still wear transitional pieces like short dresses and shorts since it won’t be too cool for those types of outfits.

3. Colors:

Warm tones and falling leaves make for gorgeous photos.  The tall grass fields are usually a beautiful wheat color and the trees will be covered with shades of orange, red, and yellow.

A few things to keep in mind when booking a fall session:

Seasonal Considerations:

If you play football or another fall sport, it might be tricky to find a date that works with your schedule.  The sun sets quite a bit earlier in the fall months and if you will be getting hair and makeup done, you will need to leave school early.  It's totally worth it but it's  something to keep in mind.

When to Book:

If a fall session sounds perfect for you, you’ll want to book asap.  September is almost full and October is half full but  GOOD NEWS, I just opened my November calendar!

The photos below all took place in September, October or November.

If you're ready to book your fall date, head over to my CALENDAR and grab a spot before they're gone!
