Their story:

How did you and Brian meet?

We met through my brother. Brian and my brother were best friends, lacrosse teammates, and fraternity brothers in college. I met him when visiting my brother one summer, but we actually didn’t start dating five years later after reconnecting at a 4th of July party at my brother’s apartment.

How did Brian propose?

I had actually asked Brian for a date night. It had been a while so I wanted to have a nice dinner date. Brian made reservations for one of our favorite restaurants which was in the Pearl here in San Antonio (an old restored campus with a beautiful hotel and lots of restaurants. It used to be the Pearl brewery canning plant and brewery). After dinner we were talking about going somewhere else for a drink and Brian said his brother was in the area and he was going to meet us. So once we met up with Brian’s brother, Brian suggested getting a picture of the two of us since we rarely get dressed up. So when we were posing for what I thought was a picture (Brian’s brother was taking it and was actually recording a video), Brian turned to me and got down on one knee. I’m pretty sure I said something like “holy sh*t” before I said yes, ha. But then after I said yes, he surprised me with a night in the Emma Hotel there in the Pearl which is one of my favorite hotels. I was very surprised and it was a very thoughtful proposal.

What was the most exciting part of planning your wedding?

The most exciting part of planning my wedding was either dress shopping or cake tasting. I loved trying on all the different dresses and cake is one of my favorite foods, so tasting and picking out the cake design was a lot of fun.

What was the most stressful part of wedding planning?

The most stressful part of planning the wedding was actually picking out our venue. We were living in San Antonio but trying to find a venue in Colorado, so most of what we looked at were pictures online or videos and pictures that my mom sent us.

What was the vision for your wedding?

The vision I had for my wedding wasn’t really anything specific. I just knew I wanted a scenic, Colorado venue and nothing too rustic.

Why did you choose The Manor House?

I chose The Manor House because I loved the scenery in the backyard and how you can also see Denver in the background. But I also loved the reception room, how spacious the entire venue was, and the fact that almost everything was included with the venue (i.e. food, linens, tables, cutlery, etc.). I cannot say how wonderful The Manor House was. I still think it was one of the best decisions we made when planning the wedding.

What part did Brian play in planning the wedding?

Brian did not play a pig part in planning the wedding at all, ha. But that was his choice! His only requests were that he could wear cowboy boots and that he wore a suit and not a tux. Other than that, we did the food testing together and he chose his signature drink, but he left pretty much everything else up to me and what I wanted.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

It is so hard to pick a favorite part of that day. I wish I could relive the whole thing over and over. But I really loved walking back down the aisle as a married couple. Either that or our first dance. Like I said, it’s hard to choose!

If you could do it all over again, would you do anything different?

I think the only change I would make is how I did my hair ha. That and I would have two people doing hair and two people doing make up so that all the girls were ready a little earlier. But other that, I don’t think I would change anything. Our wedding day was pretty dang close to perfect.

Any advice you’d give those planning their wedding right now?

My advice to anyone planning a wedding would be find a venue that includes almost everything like the Manor House did, it just makes everything so much easier. Also, if you splurge on anything, splurge on the pictures. Those are what are going to be with you forever.
