Seniors, do you have senioritis yet?  Graduation seems forever away and yet, it will be here before you know it!  Senioritis is NO JOKE!  Graduation is the only thing that will cure it completely, but here are SIX TIPS to help you manage it until then.

1.  BRAIN DUMP:  When you're feeling overwhelmed with everything on your to-do list, set aside a few minutes to write everything down.

  • Write down every single task, test, appointment...all of it, no matter how small.
  • Sort each thing on your list by category.  For instance:  School related, Extracurricular related, Personal.
  • Assign due dates as needed.
  • Finally, prioritize and schedule them on your calendar.

Getting yourself organized like this once a month, really helps reduce stress and anxiety.

2.  FIND A NEW STUDY SPOT:  The same-old same-old really plays a big part in senioritis.  Find a new coffee shop or quiet spot to study without distractions.  A change of scenery can be a good motivator to get things done.

3.  A WEEKLY DATE:  Whether it’s a set lunch, dinner or coffee with a friend, having a weekly consistent date on the calendar gives you something to look forward to and breaks up the business of the week.

4.  GET SUPPORT AND GIVE SUPPORT:   Surround yourself with people who are positive, supportive and understanding.  And in turn, you can provide the same support to them when they need it.  Sometimes, just having someone who GET’S IT, makes all the difference in the world.

5.  STAY ACTIVE:  Take a break and hit the gym or go on a hike.  Get those endorphins going and take care of yourself.  I read a study recently that said sitting all day is nearly as bad a smoking.  Take breaks and move your body!

6.  KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE GOAL:  Write down your goals and put them where you can see them.  Pray that God would open and close doors to help you reach your goals.

As tough as it may be, try to enjoy the last of your senior year!  Big, beautiful changes lie ahead!

And because every post needs some pretty pictures, below are some of my favorites from Sydney's senior session last summer.

Sydney, Class of 2022, Cherry Creek High School

Sydney will be attending Colorado State University in the fall where she will be majoring in biomedical sciences.  Go Rams!

Her advice to Class of 2023:  "Just enjoy your last year in high school.  It will fly by so fast!  Don't waste time on silly drama or things like that.  Just have a fun year!"

I love that!  Thank you Sydney for allowing me to photograph this time in your life!
